Ring of Fire Eclipse totally lived up to the hype!

I won’t lie, tonight was pretty awesome. G and I watched the annular eclipse from our backyard. Conveniently, T went to bed minutes before it started. Thanks, T-Bear!

An annular eclipse occurs when the moon passes between the sun and the Earth, and the moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the apparent diameter of the sun, creating a badass “ring of fire’ effect.

Today, on May 20th, the annular eclipse was viewable in parts of Asia and parts of the Western US, and we here in the 505, were right in the thick of things with an amazing view. Another one of these bad-boy “ring of fire” eclipses (that is the plural, not eclipsi, I checked!) will not be visible in the US until 2023. As is often the case, it was awesome to be living in New Mexico tonight. Take a looksie!
